Pedestrians traffic in St. Georges Mall, Cape Town, was brought to a grinding halt after more than 100 Undercover Agents froze in suspended animation. The purpose of this event was to illustrate the effects of this national energy crisis... "If every single person doesn't do his or her part in reducing their personal energy consumption, the nation will come to a stand-still!" Traffic stands still, our economy stands still, our lives come to a stand still... 

The event went brilliantly, giving coverage through both Print and Radio Media throughout South Africa. It reached Cape Argus, Cape Times, Die Burger, Radio 702 / 567 Cape Talk, 5FM, and many more.

But as much fun as this was, we must remember the purpose behind our events... not only to draw attention to the crisis, but also for each one of the participants to dedicate themselves to using less electricty

Think about it... every person has the power to reduce his or her consumption comfortably by at least 10%. Realistically speaking, we waste a lot of electricity without even realizing it... room lights that are on when you could have a bed-side lamp on... geysers running for the whole day... televisions playing when no-one is watching (and you know this happens a lot!)

There are also numerous passive ways to reduce your consumption... instead of watching TV, why don't you read a book? Rather than sit around at home all day playing PlayStation, go for a hike on one of the routes around your area and take up some of the natural beauty our wonderful country offers... so many ways to skin a cat...

So remember to switch off... and we'll see you at the next one!
